Kenk Exhibit at Jet Fuel Coffee

From our friends at Pop Sandbox:

Throughout February, Jet Fuel Coffee (519 Parliament Street, Toronto) will be hosting an ongoing public exhibition of artwork surrounding the acclaimed graphic novel KENK: A Graphic Portrait. KENK is an award-winning hybrid of documentary film, journalistic profile and comic book surrounding Igor Kenk, "the world's most prolific bicycle thief" (The New York Times), built from more than 30 hours of documentary footage taken over the year BEFORE his high-profile arrest.

KENK was recently named a Best Book of 2010 by Quill & Quire, Canada's top literary magazine, and was a special presentation at the International Documentary Festival of Amsterdam this past fall. It is currently being developed into an animated film with award-winning commercial director Craig Small, who helped develop the Academy Award nominated animation Madame Tutli-Putli.

The original graphic novel artwork, inspired by the 1980s DIY-underground photocopy movement in Kenk’s native Yugoslavia, as well as prints, unused illustrations and pieces from the forthcoming animation will be on free display at Jet Fuel throughout the entire month of February.
